The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant development in the area of data privacy for the past 20 years and it will affect organisations globally. GDPR concerns the protection of personal data of, or relating to EU citizens. This identification can be either direct or indirect. Since it is applicable to EU citizens on the whole, it is non EU border specific – this means that that it will also apply to organisations outside Europe i.e. wherever it may be stored and/or processed.
