Reading, UK – 20 August 2020: Document Despatch, a UK-based mailing house, has transformed its in-house production printing capabilities after adopting the Kyocera TASKalfa Pro 15000c. Replacing an older laser-based printer, the new inkjet device has enabled Document Despatch to gain a much greater degree of control over its output and reduce its reliance on outsourcing, meaning it is able to meet its customers’ print needs more efficiently than ever before.
Based in Basingstoke, Document Despatch has been producing printed materials for customers since 1987. It has an annual turnover of close to £4 million and employs 40 staff, with its remit encompassing all aspects of the print and mailing process, including document personalisation and envelope printing.
The key benefits of the TASKalfa Pro 15000c printer include:
Speaking of the need to revamp its approach to printing, Leigh Foster, Document Despatch’s Managing Director, said: “Previously, we had been using an alternative manufacturer’s laser production printer to carry out our work. The lease on this device was coming to an end, so we needed a replacement machine that would help us maintain our high standards, expand our capabilities and provide a cost-effective alternative to outsourcing.
“Our key objective was to increase our variable data printing volumes to broaden our offering and drive growth in the direct mail and fulfilment areas of the business. We had been outsourcing colour litho print jobs, which then had to be overprinted for personalisation. This was a time-consuming process that we were looking to streamline.
“We had considered equivalent laser machines, but following a recommendation from our technology partner Altodigital, we were pointed to Kyocera’s new TASKalfa Pro 15000c – an inkjet production printer which has provided us with a combination of high-quality output, low energy consumption and low cost of ownership.”
Rod Tonna-Barthet, CEO at Kyocera Document Solutions UK, added: “We at Kyocera are delighted to see Document Despatch experience such success with the TASKalfa Pro 15000c printer. Document Despatch is hugely ambitious in its plans for growth, so the company needed a printer that could deliver the high volumes needed, while still maintaining quality and a commitment to reduced carbon consumption.”
Foster concluded: “With the machine, we have essentially covered all the bases: cut costs and waste, gained a greater deal of independence, improved our environmental impact, and turned ourselves into a more efficient operation. We’re looking forward to making the very most of the machine for years to come, and see it as a core component of our future growth as a company.”
